Vaccines for Puppies & Dogs

We want to ensure your puppy and dogs live the longest lives possible. Therefore, we take necessary steps to protect them against preventable diseases. By vaccinating your pet at their various life stages, you’re safeguarding them against potentially terminal diseases. We provide individualized vaccination plans that take into account your pet’s age, lifestyle, risk of contracting preventable diseases and contact between other animals to decide which ones best suit them. What types of vaccines should my puppy and dog get?

Your pet’s vaccination plan will cater to their need but generally, we recommend puppies are vaccinated against:

• Distemper/Adenovirus/Parainfluenza/Parvovirus (DAPP) 8 weeks old, then a booster every 4 weeks for a total of at least three doses. These diseases cause pneumonia, neurological issues etc.
• Rabies at 16 weeks old. This is an incurable brain and spinal cord disease.
• Leptospirosis after 12 weeks old, as needed for your puppy’s lifestyle. This is a blood infection that also can be transmitted to humans.
• Lyme after 12 weeks as needed for the puppy’s lifestyle. This is a viral illness that impacts joints and organs throughout the body and can affect humans.

We may recommend the following canine vaccines:

• Distemper/Adenovirus/Parainfluenza/Parvovirus (DAPP)
• Rabies
• Leptospirosis annually, as needed based on your pet’s lifestyle
• Bordetella (Kennel Cough) yearly, based whether or not your pet is in high exposure environments
• Lyme annually, based on your pet’s lifestyle and exposure to infected ticks

Why is it important to have my pet vaccinated?

Ultimately, we vaccines are just one aspect of healthcare that help your pet live as long as possible with you and your family. Though there are minor risks associated with vaccines, they are worth protecting your pet against diseases that could be extremely harmful and in some cases, fatal.
